Time slips slowly through our grasp
The sands that fall we can’t clasp
The hourglass shows clearly
That all we have held dearly
Will soon join the sands below
As all our memories flow
To the bottom and out of reach
No matter how we may beseech
For Father Time to grant us more
Moments with those whom we adore
Time so finite and the end so sure
Feels so cold yet its intent so pure

Your perception of time is quite fascinating. Would you mind telling me more about your meaning of the last line? “intent so pure”? I love this. It is masterfully done. You have a skill for saying so much with just a few lines. Extraordinary 🙂

Thank you for your kind words as always. With “intent so pure” I was referencing that though time seems cold and heartless when it takes away the things we care about, it’s intent is not to hurt us, but to simply clear away the clutter. And it does so without bias.

That’s exactly what I was thinking too but thanks for the clarity. I like this poem a lot because certainly time is always a significant factor in lives. It is like a master and a servant depending on the circumstances. Hey VW, you’re an awesome critic too uh? 😀
