So many times she’s been knocked down
Left all alone there on the ground
Cold and trembling upon the floor
Is this all that Fate has in store?
She longs to hope, too scared to try
But then that look within his eye
Begs her to take just one more chance
Fall in his arms, give him this dance
Alone and cold, lying on the floor
She no longer sees an open door
The silence hangs all around
As she lies there on the ground
But darkness holds no fear in this place
And this solitude she will embrace
All she is will never be
Enough for someone to see
All she could be, given the chance
Given more than a second glance
But even then she’ll fall short
And what she is they’ll distort
Until all she was is no more
And she’s left alone on the floor
Alone in a crowd she falls to her knees
This crumpled up doll that nobody sees
Her strength is gone and her will is broken
Her words fall unheard as if unspoken
As she falls prey to all the madness
Another victim of the darkness
She closes her eyes and begins to see
All of those things she wishes could be
To be held so tight and held so dear
To know that love is always so near
To feel that kiss that reaches so deep
To know that her heart someone would keep
Safe and sound and free from all harm
Free to succumb to all his charm
But the dream will always disappear
And she’ll be left with nothing but fear
In all the world, not one can claim
To truly know her deepest shame
Or know the path that has led her here
By its twisted pain and jagged fear
She seeks comfort but to no avail
With each attempt she will only fail
So all alone she will search for peace
On this journey that will never cease
Vision skewed and thoughts so dark
Searching, desperate, for that spark
To light her way through this place
And through the dark she will race
What she sees ahead can’t be real
Those hands reaching out that would steal
The heart that beats within her chest
And yet her soul feels such unrest
Unsure of the path she should take
Thinking of all that is at stake
Slowing down and breathing deep
With only faith she must leap
In all the days that have gone by
So many nights alone to cry
But so many days that lay ahead
That to her surprise she does not dread
She will not face those days alone
In her heart a new light has shone
Like the morning sun as it rises
Each moment filled with more surprises
An unknown world coming to light
That’s so full of joy shining bright
She seeks comfort where she can
But this was never her plan
For these moments are fleeting
And the intent misleading
This sense of safety will soon pass by
It was never there, she can’t deny
She may wish for it and she may hope
It’s the only way she knows to cope
Another day, another night
And another round of this fight
Another place she finds to hide
Away from truth she has denied
Where were you when I needed you
I was so alone, falling through
To a hell that I couldn’t see
A place that no one wants to be
Where were you when the tears I cried
That were caused by all those who lied
Fell unseen to the darkest pit
With no bottom to ever hit
And so they fell forevermore
Never hitting a solid floor
