Walk with me through darkened streets
Off the path of life’s deceits
We’ll walk in shadows out of sight
With no betrayal by the light
We must keep hidden our heart and soul
From all the hate that would take its toll
It lingers in alleys that we pass
And stares so hard through the window’s glass
Seeking a glimpse of where we might be
Silhouette could betray easily
So be sure to stay where shadows fall
And listen not to it’s tempting call

Exposure
She stands with defiance in her eyes
No longer does she believe the lies
Told by those she once held dear
Their true selves are now so clear
Deceit and betrayal are all they know
Their ugliness within starting to show
No longer can they hide behind their lies
She tears away each shred of their disguise
Having exposed them she walks away
Head held high, she’s no longer their prey
Something Inside
I feel something changing in me
No longer content will I be
Deception and betrayal have defined
This path I take, I am no longer blind
To the lies on which life is built
I will not be a slave to guilt
Though this life of mine has gone to hell
I refuse to be condemned to dwell
In the deepest pits of ash and flames
I’ll no longer play the devil’s games
Look upon me now and you will see
I’m done playing nice, I am now free
Betrayal
She wakes in a haze, the betrayal still burning hot
Memories seared in her mind, her stomach in a knot
Pain is running through her from head to toe
Agony in her heart, moving so slow
Looking in the mirror, and another’s face peers back
This can’t be her own – the swelling, bruises so black
Apologies fall from his lips, he loves her so
Wincing from his touch, she can remember each blow
His love he delivered with such a force and rage
Apologies ring empty, they do not assuage
This boundary crossed she can never forgive
With this betrayal so deep she can’t live
What was done that night can never be undone
She walks away and her tears fall one by one
