What Matters

It’s all those little things
You and my heart sings
The gentle way you brush my hair
Away from my face and just stare
In disbelief that I’m yours
And my faith that look restores
It’s the little things that you say
Without thought each and every day
That tell me that this love is true
And that I can say “I love you”

By Your Side

Let me lie in your arms again
And we’ll both be free of the pain
Let the memories be made new
Within these hearts that beat so true
Though time will tell if this can last
I see hope in a love so vast
So hold me tight, never let go
And side by side, our love will grow

Second Glance

Eyes as deep as the ocean floor
Always seeking, looking for more
Full of wonder, but full of doubt
Always looking for a way out
The seek solace and they seek peace
Within this life they seek release
Pain and suffering all around
And there’s so much hope that has drowned
They see all the world can do
And they shed a tear at the view
But they wait, give another chance
The world’s not seen in just one glance

What Awaits

You tell me all I need to hear
And I only wish you were near
So that in your arms I could be
And your eyes I could once more see
To know for sure your words are true
That it’s me you want next to you
That a new path we can still create
A future unwritten does await

Redemption

Your gentle touch and soft kiss
So many things that I miss
To have you there by my side
Knowing I could never hide
You always saw me for all I was
All of the good and all of the flaws
You did not judge, you did not condemn
You just loved me for all that I am
Time has passed and years gone by
Do we get another try?
A chance to hope and to dream
That our love we can redeem

The One

You were the one who once proved me wrong
Even though your stay was not for long
You gave me faith and showed me hope
And when you left I tried to cope
But so many since would test my will
Yet my heart longs to trust even still
In my heart you will always stay
As the one who did not betray
This tender heart you loved so well
Forevermore under your spell

A Chance

A gentle caress upon her arm
Allows her to forget all the harm
And those tender words in her ear
Let her move past all of the fear
From across the room, that adoring glance
Reminds her that there is always a chance
That someone new could prove her wrong
That someone safe could come along
With hands so gentle and words so sweet
And a soul that would never mistreat

Something

There’s something out there, I just know
And it will make me smile so
How can I settle for something less
If I know it will cause me distress
I’d rather be sorry for things I’ve lost
Than to spend my days paying the high cost
For something that isn’t what I want
Be trapped by resentment that would haunt
Let my mind now be truly free
So chances out there I can see

Can She Overcome?

Pain and sorrow have shaped her life
But can she overcome the strife
Will she be able to love once more
Or is her heart frozen to the core
Can she open enough within
That she can let someone new in
Or will she always keep them at bay
Until they are pushed to run away
She must keep hope that she can overcome
To the pain of this life she can’t succumb

Climbing Higher

Starting over fresh and new
The world seems a brighter hue
Another chance to begin once more
And avoid the falls she took before
Tread careful now, the cracks run deep
And higher ground she longs to keep
She must traverse the pits of despair
And with every step she takes great care
For up ahead she can finally see
A place where she will be totally free
