Sweet Visions

sleeping - flickr by Grevel

Spoken softly into the night
Though in the dark, he speaks of light
Promises of brighter days
Are only words in the haze
Of sleep and wake within her mind
Stirring dreams of a tender kind
Replacing nightmares that used to haunt
With sweeter visions that seem to taunt
In a love so true she just can’t conceive
But he won’t give up making her believe

Forsaken

Free her now from this prison within
Release her from the pain that has been
Holding her soul and crushing her heart
Giving her hope to tear it apart
Let her find the solace she needs
That shred of hope for which she pleads
Though she’s broken and her view left jaded
There’s a light within that’s not yet faded
Give her a chance to rekindle the fire
So that upon those flames she can fly higher
As they consume the past and the pain
And within their heat melt every chain
Never again will she be taken
To a place where she is forsaken

Brighter Days

The darkest clouds they come and go
What each day brings we never know
But darker days carry such fear
Bringing storms that are so severe
Making brighter days seem so far
From the lonely place where we are
On the horizon there’s no light
But in time it will shine so bright

No Mercy

Show her no mercy, spare her no pain
Take the last of what has kept her sane
Take the light and the solace it gives
Leave her now in this darkness that lives
With its breath hot upon her neck
And eyes just a shimmering speck
She hears it’s steps moving so quick
Or is that noise just her mind’s trick
She no longer knows what’s real or not
Within this web of life that she’s caught

Taking a Chance

Vision skewed and thoughts so dark
Searching, desperate, for that spark
To light her way through this place
And through the dark she will race
What she sees ahead can’t be real
Those hands reaching out that would steal
The heart that beats within her chest
And yet her soul feels such unrest
Unsure of the path she should take
Thinking of all that is at stake
Slowing down and breathing deep
With only faith she must leap

Revived

She thought she died that night not so long ago
As she felt her heart begin to beat so slow
But it was in a deep slumber that she fell
For what had died that night was only her hell
But in every bleakest night that she has survived
There shone a light promising she would be revived
And that light she has finally reached despite it all
Back into the truest love of her life did she fall

Hide My Tears

How she wishes for tears from the sky
To hide those that she so longs to cry
So that there are none who would see
That her soul holds such tragedy
But though tragedy exists within
It’s balanced by light that’s always been
The light at times may not be seen
Or may at times be just a sheen
But trust that it will never go out
Despite the tears she may cry in doubt

Black and White or Maybe Gray

This life is not black and white
Shades of gray dance in the light
All that’s good is balanced with bad
But in between things have gone mad
The shadows dance in and out
Creating the source of doubt
The doubt that hinders moving on
That hides from sight the coming dawn
So I must fight and overcome
Or to darkness I will succumb

Her Light Grows

If only you could see her now
To her newfound strength you would bow
Such a light she now holds within
That grew in the dark that had been
Eclipsing her soul for a time
In such a way that was a crime
Never should she have to hide
The love she holds deep inside
Through the world it can now be spread
To other souls that lightly tread
This light within, she shares a piece
To all of those who seek release

Choices Made

A smoky haze filling her mind
And it leaves her feeling blind
Struggling to see the path to take
Conflicted by decisions to make
Which path would lead her to the light
Which one leads to eternal night
And which path is it she should choose
Either way there’s something to lose
Lose her heart or lose her soul
Choices always take their toll
She’ll close her eyes, leave it to Fate
To choose a course that’s true and straight
