Weary

Upon her face, weariness so deep
Deprived of rest and deprived of sleep
Eyes are sunken and face so pale
Those around pondering her tale
But the reasons elude even her
As the days and nights pass in a blur
And blissful sleep just out of reach
Though to the night she does beseech
“For just this once do not pass so quick
Let the clock slow down its endless tick
Let time stand still within this night
So I may have the strength to fight
All of the battles waiting for me
That have kept me down on bended knee”
But by the night, her pleas unheard
And the daylight comes, undeterred

In The Moonlight

Day slowly fades from her sight
As she succumbs to the night
Moonlight covers her like a cloak
A breathless sight it does invoke
Her skin that glows so soft and sweet
As though this world holds no deceit
And the ground she walks upon
Is not the same come the dawn
For in the light the magic fades
With its piercing light that invades
So give her the moon and the night
And let her shine once more so bright

Forever Burning

As the quiet night settles in
I sit and think of all that’s been
But thoughts will wander and they will drift
And to thoughts of you is where they shift
A saving grace, a shining light
That brightens up the darkest night
And you saved this heart from a fate
Of never knowing all that’s great
So now it pulses in the fire
Of all your unending desire
In those flames I want to stay
Through forever and a day

Another Night, Another Day

In the haze of dreams you lie beside me
Kissing me soft and holding me tightly
But the sweetest dreams always give way
To the dawn of yet another day
And as I wake I no longer find you
Lying next to me with those eyes so true
And time moves on and the sun will rise
As I blink away dreams from my eyes
Another night with only dreams to hold
Yet a day closer to a love so bold

Choices Made

A smoky haze filling her mind
And it leaves her feeling blind
Struggling to see the path to take
Conflicted by decisions to make
Which path would lead her to the light
Which one leads to eternal night
And which path is it she should choose
Either way there’s something to lose
Lose her heart or lose her soul
Choices always take their toll
She’ll close her eyes, leave it to Fate
To choose a course that’s true and straight

Cries Unheard

That gentle voice she longs to hear
Telling her there’s nothing to fear
In the night so dark and cold
Where the screams ring out so bold
But into a void they seem to fall
She never hears that answering call
So she sits and waits for any reply
And ever more desperate is her cry
Her loneliness becoming bittersweet
As her hope and faith become obsolete

Screams

Screaming out into the night
The fear within taking flight
Frustrations rise like the wind
No longer can I pretend
That all is right and all is well
As I slip down into this hell
A self-made prison built of hate
The walls as cold and dark as slate
And they are closing in evermore
And stifling me down to the core

Perpetual Night

Waking up to such grim skies
Searching for the sun to rise
But night still lingers overhead
Its dark cloak it has yet to shed
The hour young as the clock ticks slow
Seeming like the night may never go
Each minute passing feels like an hour
Over time, it seems, this night has power
Closing eyes once more, wishing to slumber
But that peaceful sleep those tocks encumber

Gentle Gaze

Her shoulders caressed by the moonlight
Her face glowing softly in this night
Just the sight of her takes his breath away
The beauty of her soul turns night to day
Her bright eyes make the sun rise
And brightens these dreary skies
Feeling his stare she looks up to see
His gentle face that will set her free

Safety of the Night

The darkness soft, like a lover’s embrace
Keeping her warm with all its silent grace
Wrapping her tightly each night for sleep
Taking her to dreams that lie so deep
Keeping her safe from the nightmare of day
And the events that bring her such dismay
But the safety of the night lasts only so long
And in these dreams forever she does not belong
