Brighter Days

The darkest clouds they come and go
What each day brings we never know
But darker days carry such fear
Bringing storms that are so severe
Making brighter days seem so far
From the lonely place where we are
On the horizon there’s no light
But in time it will shine so bright

The Storm

In the distance thunder rumbles
And from the clouds lightning tumbles
The smell of rain clings to the breeze
The clouds move swiftly with such ease
The storm is building and moving near
A darkening sky that once was clear
Upon this place its fury released
Ravaging all like a hungry beast
Then vanishing off in the distance
Taking all trace of its existence

In The Rain

Rain drips down, cleansing the air
Moving slowly and with care
Falling softly upon their skin
Others head for shelter within
Yet there they stand, the only two
Each other’s eyes their only view
Lost in a moment, no notice of
The rain that’s falling so high above
The clouds subside and the sun shines down
And on her head glows a glistening crown

Be Her Safe Haven

Let her cry if the tears need to fall
Let her release the pain of it all
Just hold her close as the tears flow down
So that she knows that she will not drown
Though you can not erase her pain
Just be the life boat in the rain
Shine a light that is bright and true
So she’ll know where she can turn to
Be her safety from the storm
And her pain you can transform

Ocean of Sorrow

Within her eyes are oceans of pain
Filled each day by the unending rain
Waves of sorrow lap against the shore
The blackest sands reach forevermore
Look in those eyes and fall to their spell
And find yourself drowning in her hell
So look away before it’s too late
And you succumb to her tragic fate

Tears From Above

She feels no sorrow, feels no pain
As she looks out into the rain
For as she listened to it drum
Her heart was slowly growing numb
The glass that now feels cold to touch
Mirrors her heart so very much
For as the rain ran down those panes
Her tears would become only stains
Down her face they no longer fall
Let the skies weep for one and all

Rhythm of the Rain

A return stroke, cloud-to-ground lightning strike.

Dark clouds hang heavy overhead
With an ominous sense of dread
No light this day is shining through
The storm above begins to brew
Winds sweeping and lightning flashes
In the distance thunder crashes
The rain falling in heavy sheets
The worlds now a drum that it beats
It keeps a rhythm true and pure
That nothing could ever obscure
So as the rain falls this day
And the trees do gently sway
Let the rhythm fill your heart
And let that dread now depart

The Wind

A cold wind that passes through the night
Unseen by even the brightest light
But its presence is felt so very strong
And so loudly it whistles its sad song
If you listen closely you just may hear
How much it wishes to be one held dear
Like the rays of the sun we let caress our skin
Or the soft moonlight that we so often bask in
Even the rain and snow when it falls soft and light
That we dance in as imagination takes flight
But no love is shown for this ice-cold wind
As we wear our hats and coats to defend
And so it moans on so woefully
And resigns itself so hopelessly

Coldest Rain

The coldest rain falls upon my heart
And inside I slowly fall apart
I sit and ponder all that’s wrong
Feeling as though I don’t belong
While others have a place to be
I will sit alone quietly
And turn my mind to these words I write
Seeking to erase my lonely plight

Tempered Passion

Passion runs hot through these veins
But it’s tempered by the rains
Falling quietly from these eyes
That some days reflect dark gray skies
But the rain has not doused these flames
They are something that never tames
When these tears dry they will burn bright
Once again lighting up the night
It will burn hotter than before
This sweet passion that you adore
