Breathe

Inside of her mind she tries to scream
As tears on her face begin to stream
But no sound is uttered from her lips
The breath from her chest this moment strips
Suffocating, she falls to her knees
As strength from her body quickly flees
The moment passes, panic subsides
But the dull ache within still resides
A deep jagged breath she slowly takes
As the nightmare fades and she awakes

Just Hold Her

He lies beside her watching as she dreams
All he can do is hold her when she screams
He watches her close as the dreams begin
He knows she is fighting demons within
Their causes and source she’s never revealed
The tragedy of past she keeps concealed
He aches so deep to fight in her place
So this pain one day she can erase
So each night he holds her tighter still
Until that day peace he can instill

Accepting

original By Colin-47 via Flickr

I want to be free of all this pain
To remove this shackle and this chain
Tired of my heart being filled with doubt
Tired of hearing my soul scream and shout
I want frustration to disappear
From my life so that my future’s clear
But as each problem seems to fade
Another in my life is made
There is no escape from the strife
I must accept it’s part of life

Screams

Screaming out into the night
The fear within taking flight
Frustrations rise like the wind
No longer can I pretend
That all is right and all is well
As I slip down into this hell
A self-made prison built of hate
The walls as cold and dark as slate
And they are closing in evermore
And stifling me down to the core
