No Mercy

Show her no mercy, spare her no pain
Take the last of what has kept her sane
Take the light and the solace it gives
Leave her now in this darkness that lives
With its breath hot upon her neck
And eyes just a shimmering speck
She hears it’s steps moving so quick
Or is that noise just her mind’s trick
She no longer knows what’s real or not
Within this web of life that she’s caught

Second Glance

Eyes as deep as the ocean floor
Always seeking, looking for more
Full of wonder, but full of doubt
Always looking for a way out
The seek solace and they seek peace
Within this life they seek release
Pain and suffering all around
And there’s so much hope that has drowned
They see all the world can do
And they shed a tear at the view
But they wait, give another chance
The world’s not seen in just one glance

Unseen

She lies wounded, scars exposed to all
Her tears run red, colored by her fall
Her blank stare gazes toward the sky
As the world and time just pass her by
Alone and forgotten by those around
Within her own mind is where she’ll stay bound
No smiles will she give, no words will she speak
No solace she craves, nor pity does she seek
Her inner peace she has found at last
She’s no longer haunted by the past

Post Script – To assuage any potential concerns for my mental state, this was inspired by simply watching too many crime dramas on TV.  So fear not my friends!  🙂

Seeking Serenity

I seek serenity within this mind
A place of solace all I wish to find
A moment of peace from memories so cruel
A way to stop the madness that here would rule
But there is no magic lock or door to close
That would keep at bay all that which would impose
Memories keep coming, never slowing down
A tidal wave of pain under which I drown
Gasping for air each morning when I wake
Wondering how much more my soul can take
Before it is crushed beneath the weight
Of a world that’s filled with so much hate
